Diamond Dazzlers Rock HollywoodIf the Golden Globes are any indication, 2007 is the year of jaw-dropping, eye-popping spectaculars. Diamonds, diamonds, and more diamonds sauntered down the red carpet as the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards became an ode to bling.
According to the diamond mavens at the Diamond Information Center, some 82 of Hollywood's top stars attended the ceremony bedecked in diamond dazzlers. From right hand rings to diamond chokers and bracelets, it was a night of a million sparkles. As always, there are winners and losers in awards ceremonies. This year diamond nominees included:
The overall theme of the night belonged to old Hollywood glamour. Nowhere was this more apparent than in the star's jewels. Vintage collections were dusted off and retro was cutting-edge as the stars bowed the heads (covered in diamonds) to the super-stylish look of days of yore. Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank chose a brown and white diamond orchid brooch weighing 53 carats from jewel house Chopard for her hair, which was worn loose. She explains, "I wanted something beautiful, but not a necklace." "And this seemed very old Hollywood." And that sums up the jewels of the 64th annual Golden Globes - Old Hollywood at its very best.
Sienna Miller used the drop look, as in drop-dead gorgeous, with her diamond chandelier earrings from the Cartier Private Collection. Vanessa Williams turned retro with a pair of oversized rose-cut diamond earrings and Katherine Heigl looked simply perfect with a pair of Chopard diamond drop earrings. As far as the ears go, it's just getting bigger and bigger. Roll-on Oscar time.......
Heidi Klum wowed in her diamond and platinum choker with a diamond locket. This time we truly mean ‘her' choker - the stunning piece was part of the Heidi Klum collection for Mouwad. For a cool $1 million though it could be yours. Best actress nominee Kate Winslet turn to Chopard for her heart-diamond pendant. She also joined the bracelet award category with a heart-shaped diamond bracelet and a round diamond bracelet; 8 carat Diamond cluster earrings
Heroes Ali Larter led the category with 3 platinum and diamond bracelets by Neil Lane. Beyonce Knowles, Cameron Diaz, Ellen Pompeo, Giuliana DiPandi, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria Katherine Heigl, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Vanessa Williamswere just some of the many stars giving their vote in the chunky cuffs and diamond bracelets category.
