Michel Schuermans is Chief Laboratory Officer at International Diamond LaboratoriesTM. Schuermans become widely respected as HRD's Lab Manager, a position in which he served for more than 25 years (1979-2004). In 2004, Schuermans took up the position of Production Quality Manager for different international diamond manufacturing companies at cutting factories in Antwerp and Bangkok.
Pierre Grabowski, Canadian/Belgian, is Chief Logistics Officer of International Diamond LaboratoriesTM. Grabowski headed the Security Department of a top ranking bank before joining the HRD, where he served as Manager of HRD's Certificates Department from 1994 to 2000. In 2000, Grabowski relaunched himself into Security Services for the diamond sector, a position that allowed him to gain expertise in the latest security procedures, tools and needs within the diamond business.
Dr. Filip De Weerdt is heading the Research Department at International Diamond LaboratoriesTM. Dr. De Weerdt was responsible for the research department at HRD laboratory from 2000 to 2006. He was awarded a PhD in Physics at the King's College London for his research work on diamond color treatments. Dr. De Weerdt was a member of the GIA Gemological Research Conference scientific advisory committee and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is a respected lector at scientific conferences around the world and has been working closely together with De Beers' research division in Maidenhead, UK.
Jeroen Michielsen, Sales Manager for IDL since late 2006 has been active in the diamond industry since 2002 working as a sales manager for Europe and SE Asia with AMC Diamonds in Antwerp, a diamond manufacturer and DTC sightholder. After BCA studies at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand, he started as an IT - SAP consultant for various consulting companies like Cybertech Europe, KPMG and CSC (Computer Sciences Corp), working on several European IT projects.
Peter Borgmans serves as Chief Quality Officer at IDL. He became internationally respected through his work as Secretary of the International Diamond Council, a working group of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) whose task is to standardize grading systems of all diamond laboratories. Prior to joining IDL, Borgmans was involved in quality management for Polygon, one of the leading online marketplaces for diamonds and jewelry. Earlier, he served for as HRD's Quality Manager in the Certificates Department.
